MY STORY
“Every thought, action, decision, or feeling creates an eddy in the interlocking, inter-balancing energy, every improvement we make in our private world improves the world at large for everyone.” – David Hawkins
Psychology has always been a life-long passion for me. From a very young age, I intuitively knew my purpose was to help other people. I was greatly influenced by the environment that my mother created for me whilst growing up. She was a doctor who was always available to her patients. This, combined with my own transformative journey later transformed into a career because I wanted to help facilitate a similar growth in others.
I am continuously curious about the power of the mind and the impact it has on the body, also know as mind-body language. I view psychotherapy as a creative process of discovering a masterpiece in each client and my aim is to restore spontaneity, liveliness, vitality, and excitement of existence in my clients. I have a more comprehensive and deeply compassionate style of counselling, as I apply elements from a range of therapeutic techniques that is personally tailored to the client. I provide psychotherapeutic support to adult individuals and families. My specialty is working with trauma, emotional disorders, loss, and bereavement.
I have a particular interest in mindfulness and Gestalt therapy. Both approaches honor the power of the present moment; the value of awareness and embodiment. I always believed in the intricate connection between body, mind and soul I was therefore seeking a psychological framework that would include the work with the body. During that time, I was going through a major life crisis where my own body and soul were in pain. I was lucky to have come across a wonderful Gestalt therapist who changed the course of my life. That was where my journey of studying Gestalt began and it still continues today.
Currently, in my spare time, I am undergoing clinical training in Gestalt therapy at the Institute of Gestalt (H.C.C. Italy), Postgraduate School of Psychotherapy. My qualifications include my Honours Degree in Psychology from the South African College of Applied Psychology. I’ve had my professional training done at both the Trauma Center Cape and Hope House in Cape Town. There, I worked with all types of trauma and traumatic bereavement and gained practical application of Cognitive Behavioural Theory (CBT) techniques. I have also been volunteering at Life Line since 2012.
I am multilingual, and offer my counselling services in Russian, Ukrainian and English.
My philosophy is that people potentially have all the necessary abilities to solve their problems or face their difficulties, so therefore my goal is to help each person reach their true potential in life.
